Competition at the KZOO Shootout will happen at three sites, including the Portage Courthouse Athletic Facility.

The tournament follows AYBT’s traditional five-game District Series Event (DSE) format.

Student-athletes will face opponents at one of three sites, including Comstock High School (2107 N 26th St., Kalamazoo), Portage Courthouse Athletic Facility (7365 S Sprinkle Rd.,
Portage), and Schoolcraft High School (551 East Lyons St., Schoolcraft).

Boys third-through-eleventh grades and girls fourth-through-eleventh grades will participate. Spectators can catch all the action for $5 per day for adults and $4 per day for students and seniors.

For more information on the event, contact tourney Director Todd Schenck at 269-274-3622 or by email at aybtschenck@gmail.com.

There is plenty to do in ‘KZoo’ during your stay, including the Kalamazoo Valley Museum (230 N. Rose St.). Voted the top small museum in Michigan, the Kalamazoo Valley features ‘Adventures you can touch,’ a celebration of history, science, and technology in Michigan in a fun, hands-on design.

The Kalamazoo Air Zoo (6151 Portage Rd., Portage) certainly is worth a stop, as it  features more than 50 rare and historic aircraft, amusement park-style rides, full-motion flight simulators, RealD 3D/4D Missions Theater, as well as historical exhibits and educational activities.

Finally, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (314 S. Park St.) features three current exhibitions, the West Michigan Area Show (featuring art from West Michigan), Cultural Encounters (featuring the photography of Larry K. Snider), and an exhibition featuring works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, the producer of works from the world famous Tiffany Studios.
