Although Decatur is the self-described ‘Soy Bean Capital of the World,’ grain silos won’t be part of the normal player’s view. In recent years, the event has taken place at Decatur Lutheran (2001 E. Mound Rd.), Millikin Griswold Gym (1184 W. Main St.), and at Thomas Jefferson Middle School (4735 E. Cantrell St.).

There is plenty to do for families who, because of AYBT, are coming to Decatur for the weekend, including the Children’s Museum of Illinois (55 S. Country Club Rd.). The two-floor, 10,000 sq. ft. museum is rated by Child Magazine as one of the Top 25 children museums in the country.

Just down the road, children and adults alike will also find plenty to do at the Scovill Zoo, located at 71 S. Country Club Rd. Sitting on the banks of the Lake Decatur, the zoo has more than 100 species of animals, birds, and reptiles including the North American Timberwolves and South African Cheetahs. For more information, contact the zoo at 217-421-7435.
