Two Ada-area boys’ high school basketball teams used the summer American Youth Basketball Tour to prepare for impressive runs to the recent Ohio state finals.

Ottawa Glandorf High School captured the Division III state championship with a 67-46 win against Versaille at the Value City Arena in Columbus.

Leipsic, meanwhile, fell short in a Division IV 87-63 title-game loss to Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph.

Senior T.J. Metzger scored 36 points to lead Ottawa Glandorf to its crown. In the process, Metzger tied the most points record in a Division 3 title game and tied the all-divisions record (9) for 3-pointers.

Ottawa Glandorf also won state titles in 2004 and 2008.

Leipsic’s dream season came to an end with a 25-5 record, setting a school mark for victories in a season. The Vikings also made the school’s first state tournament appearance in 88 years.
